Role Overview

At Cortland Partners, you map the story of your success. We don't adhere to the status quo, we love outside industry perspective, and we thrive on exploring possibilities and reimagining solutions. As an innovative leader in multifamily, our high performance continues to drive exponential growth – and we invite you to join us on our journey towards real estate excellence. With tools and guidance to sharpen your skills, you can forge your own career path, love what you do, and let it show.

As a Construction Services Assistant, you help supervise resident relations, vendor oversight, and curb appeal management to ensure construction projects go smoothly for both workers and residents.

Roles You'll Play

THE MOOD BOOSTER

  • Minimize the disruptive aspects of our construction projects so residents can continue enjoying a happy home life
  • Keep residents in the loop regarding the status of projects by clearly communicating what’s currently underway and what’s coming next
  • Embody Cortland’s high standards of excellence and represent your community in a professional manner on and off the property
  • Bend over backwards to solve residents’ renovation-related problems — turning just about anybody’s frown upside-down

THE RULE FOLLOWER

  • Ensure that construction workers follow principles of conduct and respect community residents to contribute to a pleasant renovation site
  • Supervise work performed in occupied units to safeguard residents’ belongings and make sure their apartments are in the same state as they left them
  • Lock up each unit at the end of the day, making sure no subcontractors are lingering behind and that all in-process work areas are spiffy clean

THE CARETAKER

  • Understand that an absence of clutter and chaos make for strong curb appeal and a powerful first impression
  • Keep renovation sites clean and tidy — removing trash, breaking down empty boxes, or helping to clean up available apartment units
  • Keep our grounds, amenities, building exteriors, office spaces, parking lots, and other community buildings clear of construction debris
  • Perform tasks professionally, without endangering yourself, residents, or fellow associates — report physical safety hazards to your supervisor

Our Vision of What Success Looks Like

  • Resident retention is at an all-time high, even with all the construction and renovations going on.
  • Residents can walk though their outdoor space with pride, “ooh-ing” and “ahh-ing” over how little their spaces have been disturbed.
  • Subcontractors stick to our low-disturbance protocols and are motivated to keep work areas as clean as possible.
  • Grounds and common areas look so great that residents wonder if these so-called renovations are even taking place.

Your Building Blocks of Success

  • High school diploma, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance
  • Stellar hands-on maintenance experience
  • Solid ability to work under tight deadlines and execute in a transitional environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse array of people, including the Construction team, residents, vendors, and owners
