As a Marketing intern, you report to the VP of Marketing, effectively execute marketing and advertising strategies, develop solid internal relationships, and manage your own projects and assignments.

 

Roles You'll Play


  

THE SPONGE

  • Interact with Marketing professionals to build an in-depth understanding of real-world marketing methods and challenges
  • Create and present marketing materials, strategies, campaign ideas, and budgets
  • Deepen your understanding of media landscapes, campaign effectiveness, and media placement
  • Format, coordinate, and present marketing programs, schedules, and reports
  • Learn how Cortland’s philosophy, principles, and policies guide the conduct of our projects and operations and help us steer clear of regulatory violations

THE GO-GETTER

  • Assist with a wide range of marketing tasks — everything from maintaining media production calendars to implementing digital marketing programs to developing social media campaigns
  • Partner closely with Branding and Communications teams through the creative communication process
  • Work with various teams and communities within Cortland to understand their marketing needs
  • Lead your own projects, as assigned, and present your results to the team
  • Research and recommend process improvements to drive efficiency and overall effectiveness

THE NETWORKER

  • Participate in as many formal and informal development activities as you can, including “Lunch with the Leader” forums
  • Ask your colleagues on the Marketing team, including senior executives, about our industry and the typical (and not-so-typical) career tracks at Cortland
  • Broaden your understanding of our company by reaching out to team members in other functional areas, such as Supply Chain, Architecture/Interior Design, Investments, Talent, IT, Facilities and Services, Operations, and Construction

Your Building Blocks of Success


  • Full-time junior or senior college student, preferably with a marketing, public relations, business administration, or similar program major
  • Demonstrated interest in a property management career
  • Terrific communication, presentation, problem-solving, time management, and decision-making skills
  • High level of adaptability; driven to continually grow and develop
  • Working knowledge of both traditional and digital media as well as its competitive landscape
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
