As the Director of Sourcing - Building Materials, you lead all sourcing activities for our CASK Industries organization, appraise and improve our sourcing activities, explore new supply sources, maintain strong relationships with existing providers, and analyze the company’s spending and supply partnerships.

 

Roles You'll Play


  

THE DIPLOMAT

  • Take charge of vendor selection, contract management, and materials planning
  • Exhibit strong leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills to build strong and effective relationships with trustworthy suppliers
  • Lead negotiation strategies and secure profitable deals, ensuring that Cortland is getting top-notch supplies for the best price
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to guarantee agreement on terms and processes
  • Display your experience with global suppliers (specifically Chinese manufacturers) to research and anticipate changes in the negotiating power of suppliers, including shifting economics between suppliers in different countries
  • Supervise the Manager of Shanghai Operations and Sourcing Managers, making sure they are performing in accordance with the strategic plan

THE OPTIMIZER

  • Drive cost effectiveness and improve service levels
  • Utilize your in-depth knowledge of key sourcing processes and current best practices to enhance Cortland’s sourcing to attain maximum efficiency
  • Partner with the Director of Logistics to reduce export haulage costs
  • Demonstrate your ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships to build and maintain a world-class global supplier network for all product categories
  • Provide product development engineering support and interface with suppliers to develop new products
  • Build a high-quality team and provide supervision while maintaining familiarity with pertinent details of each project

THE ANALYZER

  • Use your strong analytical skills and attention to detail to perform cost scenario and benchmarking analyses
  • Apply your understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgment to estimate risks and implement risk-minimizing techniques
  • Execute appropriate product testing and quality control programs
  • Clean up and maintain the vendor master and item master in order to accurately track spending on an ongoing basis

Your Building Blocks of Success


  • Proven work experience as a Sourcing Manager or Procurement Manager
  • 4-year college degree in supply chain, construction management, engineering, or related field
  • Superior collaboration skills and ability to manage cross-functional relationships within an organization
  • Expert time-management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills; ability to quickly adapt to an often-changing and fast-paced work environment
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management and relevant software
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
