The Cortland Partners’ Purchasing Specialist carries responsibilities ranging across a multitude of sectors within the company. It is safe to say, that each day presents challenges above and beyond simple procurement. Success is derived from the ability to adapt, analytical thinking, and problem solving. The construction production team is reliant on you to meet their numbers each month. In addition, the corporate leadership finds you imperative in orchestrating innovation and improvement across the various platforms in the company.  You have to be diplomatic, manage budgets, negotiate, identify and solve issues, and constantly be in search of ways you and your team can make your renovation projects and supply chain cheaper and more efficient.   • Purchase construction consumables and other miscellaneous building products.
  • Maintain database of lumber and hardware pricing and takeoffs.
  • Enhance the purchasing function for construction consumables, tools and materials by developing/improving vendor relationships.
  • Verify purchase requisitions, identify appropriate vendors and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Monitor RFPs in accordance with company policies and practices.
  • Evaluate order and bid documentation (requisitions, change orders, bids, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper acquisition of supplies within compliance guidelines.
  • Assist in obtaining required permits, maintaining file of updated drawings and making adjustments to project costs due to changes.
  • Prepare written materials (e.g. purchase orders, memos, specifications, quotations, schedules, price analyses, vendor selection, sole/single justifications, best value, and technical evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information related to purchasing activities.
  • Act as liaison between internal departments and construction project management team.
